Boulder Mail Trail

Escalante National Monument offers complete solitude with a colorful landscape and unique canyons waiting to be explored. Hike on historic trails over vast slickrock expanses. Enjoy the quaintness of small canyons and crystal clear pools.

Enjoy slickrock hiking and deep canyon exploring, while traveling on historic trail through Escalante National Monument. You will drink in the spectacular vistas of immense slickrock expanses, and in the near distance, Boulder Mountain and the Henry's. This is an unforgettable backpacking trip.

Itinerary - The final itinerary may change due to weather or any unforeseen circumstance(s).

Day 1:
Depart Flagstaff at 6am for a scenic drive to Escalante. Crossing the Navajo Reservation, traveling around Lake Powell and along the cockscomb is memorable, with options of hiking and photos along the way. We will take time to explore the unique landscapes of Southern Utah as we travel to Escalante, eventually landing near Escalante Town- calling camp home. (L) (D)

Day 2:
We will pack up camp after breakfast for an early shuttle to our trailhead near Boulder Utah. The hike begins on slickrock, but concludes with tremendous variety, exploring one incredible canyon in route and landing for the night in another. There are trees to relax under, and pools to enjoy as we make camp, and take in our surroundings. 6+ miles (B) (L) (D)

Day 3:
The morning begins with a sunrise, breakfast, and a hike out of our canyon for incredible vistas in all directions. Today's hike is packed with photo opportunities. We will take time to explore a side canyon, discover a natural bridge, enjoy numerous pools and relax in the shade. Our camp will provide us with uncompromised views and incredible star gazing. 6+ miles (B) (L) (D)

Day 4:
After a great sunrise over slickrock country, we embark on the final leg of the journey. Making our way to meet our ride, we take in ultimate views, while crossing unique terrain. Our day continues with lunch, followed by the return trip to Flagstaff. 6+ miles (B) (L)
