Yosemite - Vogelsang Peak Loop

This
breathtaking loop takes us through a variety of classic Sierra Nevada subalpine
and alpine environments, from wildflower-dotted meadows along rivers to alpine lakes
to a high mountain peak with huge 360-degree views. Enjoy a night camping in Tuolumne
Meadows and the final night in Yosemite Valley.
Itinerary - The final itinerary may change due to weather or any unforeseen
circumstance(s).
Day 1:
We will meet at a select location in Yosemite National Park and travel to Tuolumne
Meadows, making a couple of stops in route. We will car camp in Tuolumne Meadows
and prepare for backpacking the next morning. (L) (D)
Day 2:
After breakfast we will begin our hike up the broad meadow of Lyell canyon along
the Tuolumne River on the John Muir Trail. We will climb out of Lyell Canyon through
Lodge pole and White Bark Pine forests to our camp- located at Evelyn Lake, just
above tree line. This camp is along a wide, clear Alpine lake at 10,500 ft. (Travel

Day 3:
We will begin by hiking from Evelyn Lake across the broad Plateau to the Vogelsang
area- which is dotted with smaller lakes. We will climb to the summit of Vogelsang
Peak (11,500ft) and take in the views of hundreds of craggy granite peaks in every
direction. As we retreat from the summit we will hike over Vogelsang Pass, descending
to tonight's camp at Bernice Lake (10,206ft). (6 miles)(B) (L) (D)
Day
4:
Today we will begin our hike with a decent back below treeline and then along Lewis
Creek in the canyon on the south side of Vogelsang. Departing Lewis Creek we travel
north along Fletcher Creek to the west of Vogelsang and camp at Emeric Lake (9,338ft).

Day 5:
Our final descent will include a hike north over Tuolumne Pass and then follow Rafferty
Creek downhill to Tuolumne Meadows. We will then load up and travel to Yosemite
Valley for a grand finale in tent cabins and dinner at the lodge. (10 miles). (B)

Enjoy a relaxing breakfast at the lodge and take in some final sites before parting
ways.
