Hike Description:
The trail to Supai begins at Hualapai Hilltop which is about a 3-hour drive from Flagstaff. There are no services at the trailhead and the closest town is Peach Springs, 70 miles away. Hiking from Hualapai Hilltop to the Falls is not a day hike. We recommend 3 to 5 days for one to fully experience the beauty of this place.
Water this crystal clear can only be found a few places in the world. Waterfalls, sparkling blue-green pools and towering red cliffs can only be found in one place…. Havasu Falls – Grand Canyon. The spectacular waterfalls, tucked 3,000 feet below the rim, are located in the western part of the Grand Canyon and are like nothing else in the world! Havasu Canyon combines some of the most memorable backcountry hiking with the culture of a Native American tribe that has occupied this area for centuries. It is known for its majestic waterfalls, turquoise pools, caves, hanging gardens and sandstone canyons. You may choose to explore one of the many canyons, relax by one of the numerous waterfalls, or both. On this trail, we use mules to transport all of our gear, making your experience more enjoyable. For those who want a little more excitement, you have the option of riding a horse or taking a helicopter.
Why Hike with Four Season Guides?
The answer is simple…Would you rather go with an outfitter that does not live in the area and only visits Havasu once a year or go with a professional guide service that visits Havasu once a week? The guides at FSG take hundreds of people through the canyon every year and spend an average of 170 days a year in Havasu Falls alone.
We offer personable and highly experienced guides with extensive knowledge of the area. This means you will see the best viewpoints, go on the best hikes, swim in the best spots and camp in the best locations. Camp food will feature abundant, healthy and delicious meals fully catered by our local guides for your comfort. Do not spend your dream vacation on a trip with so many people that your guide doesn’t even know your name. Let us show you the adventure of a lifetime.
Itinerary - The final itinerary may change due to weather or any unforeseen circumstance(s).
Day 1: Depart Flagstaff at approx. 6:00 am for a 3 hour drive to Hualapai Hilltop where you will prepare for your hike. Hike 10 miles through a picturesque sandstone canyon. You will stop along the way to enjoy pictographs and spectacular desert flora/ fauna. Also pass through the village of “Supai” where the Havasupai tribe has been living for centuries within the Grand Canyon. Upon arrival at the campground your guide will set up camp while you relax by Havasu Creek. 10 miles of hiking (L) (D)
Day 2: After breakfast, prepare to spend the day exploring. Your guide will give you the opportunity to explore the three main waterfalls, various side canyons and wonderful swimming holes. You may also opt to spend the day relaxing by the creek, taking in the spectacular scenery of the canyon. Whether you wish to spend the whole day hiking and swimming or simply relaxing in camp, your guide can customize the day to fit your needs. 3 to 10 miles of hiking depending on the hike. (B) (L) (D)
Day 3: Rise early for breakfast and one last chance to go see the falls. Enjoy the hike back to Hualapai Hilltop where you will have a big lunch. 10 miles of hiking (B) (L)
4 and 5-day itineraries allow more time for one to explore cave, waterfalls, side canyons, and possibly the Colorado River for those adventuresome ones. A lot of our clients felt that the longer itineraries allowed them to see more without feeling rushed.
