Day 1:
Depart Flagstaff at approx. 5:30 am for a 3 hour
drive to Hualapai Hilltop where you will prepare for your 10 mile hike through this
picturesque sandstone canyon. You will stop along the way to enjoy pictographs and
spectacular desert flora/ fauna. Also pass through the village of “Supai”
where the Havasupai tribe has been living for centuries within the Grand Canyon.
Upon arrival at the campground your guide will set up camp while you relax by Havasu
Creek. (10 miles of hiking) (L) (D)
Day 2:
After a great cup of
coffee and a big breakfast, prepare to spend the day exploring. Your guide will
give you the opportunity to explore the three main waterfalls, various side canyons
and wonderful swimming holes. You may also opt to spend the day relaxing by the
creek, taking in the spectacular scenery of the canyon. Whether you wish to spend
the whole day hiking and swimming or simply relaxing in camp, your guide can customize
the day to fit your needs. 3 to 10 miles of hiking depending on the hike. (B) (L)
(D)
Day 3:
Rise early for breakfast
and enjoy your last chance to see the falls. We will be hitting the trail early.
You have a long hike out with one of the best rewards yet to come; standing on the
rim looking back down the canyon, knowing you did it. Time to take off the hiking
boots and head down the road to get a good nights rest at the lodge before starting
your start paddling trip the following morning. 10 miles of hiking. (B) (L) (D)
Day 4:
The day begins on
one of the most historical roads in the area- which takes you to your launch site
just below the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River. (Security is very tight at the
Hoover Dam, so you must have a picture ID). Before you shove off in your state of
the art kayak/canoe your knowledgeable and experienced guide will give you a lesson
in basic paddling and general river safety. Today's distance in the kayak is not
long but offers plenty of exploring. There are various side canyons with warm creeks
and even a sauna cave to heat up in. Eventually we will land at our camp and have
a chance to soak in the Arizona Hot Springs or take a dip in the river. Your guide
will prepare dinner while you enjoy a sunset on the river banks, deep in Black Canyon.
(B) (L) (D)
Day 5:
After a nights rest
under the stars, your guide will have coffee and breakfast waiting for you. Today
is all about paddling. We pack up camp and launch shortly after breakfast to enjoy
time heading downstream. Once on the river, keep your eyes open for some of the
local wildlife. One typically sees Big Horn Sheep, Bald Eagles, Great Blue Herons,
and wild Burros. We will stop to stretch our legs and have a snack. The day also
includes a chance to paddle into the Emerald Cave. Whether you choose to come in
the winter so you can soak in the hot springs, some as warm as 111F (44C) or during
the warmer months to cool off in the refreshing Colorado River 54F (12C), you will
never want to leave. Two days allows one to fully take in all the beauty without
feeling rushed. After docking at Willow Beach and loading up the boats, it's back
to Flagstaff. The trip will end in Flagstaff at approximately 5:00pm. (B) (L)
6 day itineraries allow more time for one to explore cave, waterfalls, side canyons,
and possibly the Colorado River for those adventuresome ones. A lot of our clients
felt that the longer itineraries allowed them to see more without feeling rushed.
