The most classic hike in the canyon! The best overall views of the canyon because it allows one to truly see the diversity of the North Rim vs. the South Rim. We begin the hike in the cool wooded area of the North Rim via the North Kaibab trail. About 4.5 miles into the hike, we will stop at Roaring Spring to cool off and explore some of the beautiful caves. From here, we follow Bright Angel Creek to our first camp at Cottonwood Campground. Next, we follow Bright Angel Creek, with a detour to check out the famous Ribbon Falls. This creek leads us to Phantom Ranch and Bright Angel Campground, our second campsite. This is a good camp to take a layover day and enjoy the surrounding canyons and wildlife. The next day, we continue our journey across the Colorado River to Indian Garden Campground. Our last night will be spent here and we will hike out to Plateau Point to take in a spectacular sunset. The last day we will hike out on the Bright Angel Trail to the top of the South Rim.

Itinerary - The final itinerary may change due to weather or any unforeseen circumstance(s).

Day 1:
Depart Flagstaff at 6am for an enjoyable drive to the North Rim. Make sure you keep your eyes open for wildlife as we make our way through the Navajo Reservation, over the Colorado River and across the Kaibab Plateau. Once at the trailhead you and your guide will begin your trek down the North Kaibab Trail to Cottonwood Campground, 7.0 miles below the rim. Enjoy a warm meal by Bright Angel Creek. (L) (D)

Day 2:
We have a 7.0-mile hike to Phantom Ranch/Bright Angel Campground with a side hike to Ribbon Falls. Lots of side canyons and swimming holes to play in, while your guide prepares a delicious lunch creek side. This camp along the Colorado River is a highlight. (B) (L) (D)

Day 3:

After breakfast we will begin our 5.0-mile hike up to Indian Gardens with side hiking options and a beautiful waterfall to cool off in. Late afternoon we will do a 3.0-mile hike out to one of the best places in the world to see a sunset, Plateau Point. (B) (L) (D).

Day 4:
After packing up camp we begin our final ascent, 4.5 miles to the South Rim. This stretch of trail offers some of the best chances to see the very endangered California Condor…a 10ft wingspan. Big lunches to celebrate your accomplishment, before our shuttle driver brings us back to Flagstaff. (B) (L)

5 and 6 day itineraries offer many exploring options, such as Phantom Creek, Upper Ribbon Falls, The Transept, Manzanita Canyon, Utah Flats and Clear Creek just to name a few. You may also choose to spend one full day exploring the North Rim and all it has to offer before heading down the trail the next day.
