Travel Logistics

  • Where does the trip begin/end?

This trek begins in Les Houches, France and ends in Chamonix, France. Guests typically fly into Geneva (GVA) and transfer to Les Houches by shuttle or train (1.5–2 hours). Please arrive by 5 PM for our orientation meeting. Flights home may be booked any time on Day 9.

Flights to and from Geneva are not included in your tour price and are the responsibility of our guests to arrange. A number of major airlines operate flights to Geneva.

  • Travel to Les Houches / From Chamonix

Most travelers fly into Geneva International Airport (GVA), located about two hours from Les Houches, France — the starting point of your trek. Airport transfers are not included, but travel is easy to arrange by shared shuttle, private taxi, or train. Popular shuttle companies such as AlpyBus and Mountain Drop-Offs offer convenient door-to-door service directly to your hotel in Les Houches.

At the end of your trek, you’ll finish in Chamonix, just 15 minutes from Les Houches. From there, return transfers to Geneva Airport are easily arranged through the same shuttle providers. We’ll provide detailed instructions and recommended options when your trip is confirmed.

  • International Travel Requirements

A passport is required for travel to Europe and needs to be valid for at least 6 months past the planned date of departure. A Visa is not required for stays shorter than 90 days.

Travelers will need to show proof of departure from the EU to customs and immigration upon arrival in the country (i.e. a return airline ticket).

  • Trip Insurance

Due to the remote and challenging nature of international trekking, we strongly recommend that all guests purchase a comprehensive travel insurance policy that includes medical treatment, emergency evacuation, and repatriation coverage (minimum $200,000 USD).

While not mandatory, please note that Four Season Guides cannot assume financial responsibility for costs associated with medical care, evacuation, repatriation, or trip interruption. Guests who choose to travel without insurance acknowledge and accept full responsibility for these risks.

We recommend IMG’s iTravelInsured Travel LX plan or a comparable policy from another provider. If using another insurer, please confirm your coverage meets the minimum recommended limits.
